Welcome from the Police Chief

Welcome to the Amherst Police Department website. The Town of Amherst, Massachusetts, is home to 38,000 residents and hosts Amherst College, Hampshire College and the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. The Amherst Police Department is a team of 47 sworn and 4 civilian employees who are dedicated to providing professional service to the Town. The Amherst Communications Center, which is located on the third floor of the station, is staffed with 12 equally dedicated and professional employees. The success of the Amherst Police Department is due to both the strong commitment of our employees and to the support they receive from the entire community. We value the trust placed in us by the community that we serve, and we will be diligent in our efforts to uphold that trust. We continue to identify new and innovative ways to address crime and quality of life concerns in Amherst, and we welcome input from the community to assist us towards that goal. As you view our website, I hope that you can see the exceptional service that the Amherst Police Department provides to the Town of Amherst, and I also hope that you will take advantage of the many services and programs that we provide to our community members.
