 Fee Reduction Program

Amherst Recreation and the Amherst Recreation Commission recognize that the charging of fees for programs may place such an economic hardship on some individuals that they are unable to participate. For that reason, Amherst Recreation is pleased to announce that all programs are available at a reduced rate to qualified Amherst residents (certain restrictions will apply). Contact the Amherst Recreation office to apply. Please allow 3-5 business days for processing. Application & Information.

 Insurance/Liability

Many recreation activities have inherent risks associated with participation. Amherst Recreation is not able to provide accident or hospitalization insurance for program participants. Therefore, all participants are strongly advised to have adequate personal coverage. Participation in all department programs shall be at the registrant’s own risk.

 Nonresident Fee

Some Amherst Recreation administrative and programmatic costs are covered by Amherst tax dollars. Therefore, those who are not residents of Amherst will be assessed a $10 surcharge for each program in which they register.

 No Smoking Policy

Please be aware that smoking is prohibited in school buildings and on school grounds at all times. Smoking is also prohibited in town buildings.

 Photographs of Activities

Occasionally, Amherst Recreation will have a photographer take pictures of our programs for use in our Amherst Recreation program guide, website and other media. If you or any member of your family are a participant of a program and DO NOT wish to have your picture used by Amherst Recreation please contact our office at (413) 259-3065 before the end of the program.

 Postponements and Cancellations

Program Cancellations will be communicated to program participants directly from program personnel. We will make every effort to contact participants with as much advance notice as possible. Upon registration please be sure to submit any updated contact information. When schools are closed due to weather, ALL Amherst Rec. programs hosted within the Amherst School District will be cancelled as well. Facility closures (office, pools, Cherry Hill) will be posted on our Facebook pages. If there is insufficient registration or other reasons to prevent an acceptable presentation of an activity, Amherst Recreation reserves the right to cancel a program.

 Inclusion & Accessibility

Requests for special needs accommodations must be made in writing, email, or faxed three weeks prior to the start of a program. Advance notice allows us time to try to find the supports that you may need. We will do our best to successfully accommodate your need.

*Amherst Community Theater Ticket Policies

Performances will only be cancelled in extremely bad weather or for other unforeseen emergencies.  Please check our website at amherstacts.org for cancellation announcements as well as information on the dates and times of make-up performances.

In the event of a cancellation, ticket holders may use their tickets at the designated make-up performance for that show. If patrons are unable to attend the make-up performance, we will make our best effort to accommodate them with available seating at another performance.

As a small non-profit community theater, we hope to avoid situations where we must issue refunds for performances cancelled due to inclement weather or other emergencies. If you have tickets to a cancelled performance and are not able to use them at one of our designated make-up performances, we invite you to consider the expense a donation to Amherst Community Theater.   However, you may also request a full or partial refund by contacting our producer at: producer@amherstacts.org

A performance cancelled the first weekend will run the following Wednesday evening at 7:30 pm. A performance cancelled the second weekend will run on Sunday evening at 7:30 pm or Monday evening at 7:30
